Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate Social Responsibility
With the passage of the companies act, 2013 on CSR, the mandatory awakening on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to the forefront and through its disclose-or-explain mandate, is promoting greater transparency and disclosure.
Schedule VII of the Act, which lists out the CSR activities, suggests communities to be the focal point. Qualifying company requires spending 2% of its average net profit of the immediately preceding three financial years on CSR activities.
The role of csr is becoming important as investors accord a premium to the companies which are ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), and evolving it as an important component, as investors are looking at these factors in their analysis process, for growth opportunities.
Monitoring and Evaluating a csr project is an essential component under any CSR project as it provides a transparent communication of project outcomes and deliverables. It also helps to project post project analysis of actual outcome.
